PIANC-Japan is a Japanese section of the international organization PIANC, which was established in 1885 for the purpose of promoting the maintenance and development of waterborne transport infrastructure. It is a non-political and non-profit organization which addresses various international technical problems.

Mr. Yutaka Sunohara is elected as a new president of PIANC-Japan

On the occasion of a general assembly of PIANC-Japan held on the 21st June 2011, Mr. Y Sunohara who is a former director general of Port and Harbour Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and a former chief delegate of PIANC from Japanese Government as well was elected as a new president of PIANC-Japan replacing Mr. Y. Kawashima who still maintains a position of the vice-president of PIANC.

PIANC 125th Anniversary Celebration in Asia comes to successful end

For the 125th anniversary of PIANC, the organizing committee chaired by the Director General of the Port and Harbour Bureau, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), Mr. Hayashida hosted a celebration event in the Asian region between the 12th and 14th September 2010 in Nagoya. About 700 participants including about 80 persons from 41 countries took part in the celebration. The event was honored by the attendance of His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince. PIANC 125th Anniversary Celebration in Asia is scheduled to be held in September 2010 in Nagoya

PIANC established in 1885 will greet its 125th anniversary in 2010. 
On this occasion, anniversary events are scheduled to be held over the world including UK, South-Africa, Argentina and Japan.
Japan will host the event representing Asian region between 11th and 15th September 2010.
